Rainbow Bridge

When an animal that was especially close to someone who stayed on this side passes away, it goes to the Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills where all our little friends can play and run together. They have plenty of food, water and sun there; they feel warm and cozy. All animals that were sick and old return to times of youth and health; those who were injured or mutilated are whole and strong again, just as we remember them when we dream of times and days that have passed. The animals are happy and content, with one small exception: each of them misses that one special person who is left on the other side. They run and play together, but there comes a day when one of them suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His shining eyes are focused, his thirsty body trembles. Suddenly he leaves the group, racing over the green grass, his legs moving faster and faster. You are the one who has been noticed, and when you and your best friend finally meet, you embrace in joyful connection, never to be separated again. A shower of happy kisses falls on your face, your hands caress your beloved head again; you look again into the trusting eyes of your friend who left your life for so long, but never left your heart. And then you cross the Rainbow Bridge – together…
